The Greek art of rhetoric was first naturalized at Rome in the time of the younger Scipio, and Latin treatises on the subject were in circulation from the time of the I read the Loeb library volume 1-5 in Cicero. I have to say, out of the books, only Rhetorica Ad Herennium seemed to teach me something - and this book taught me a lot in a very efficient manner. The other books seemed very focused on defending Cicero's views vs others.
